$18-$19 per hour (DOE), 1st shift
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, or adjust feed and speed of machine controls
- Dimensions, tolerances, an angles of work pieces or machines
- Knowledge of metal properties and shop mathematics
- Mount attachments and tools such as pantographs, engravers, or routers to perform other operations such as drilling.
- Position cutting tools and work pieces in relation to each other to start machines
- Removal of work pieces from machines, using measuring instruments such as gauges, calipers, and micrometers.
- Replacement of worn tools, hand tools, sharpening dull tools.
- Selection of cutting speeds, feed rates, and depths of cuts.
- Study blueprints, layouts, sketches, or work orders.
- Turn valves or pull levers to start and regulate flow of coolant or lubricant to work areas.
- Operating computer-controlled machines or robots to perform one or more machine functions on metal and or work pieces.
- Calculating machine speeds and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts.
- Clean machines, tooling, and parts.
- Control coolant systems.
- Enter commands or load control media such as tapes, cards, or disks into machine control panels.
- Lift work pieces to machines manually, listen to machines during operation to detect for problems, maintain machines and remove or replace any broken worn-out machine tools, and measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance
