Position Summary
Operates various CNC or manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders, to machine metallic workpieces.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities – includes the following, but others may be assigned
· Understand the safety requirements for operating the machine and adhering to them.
· Ability to read and understand part schedule, job aids, work instructions, and routing sheets. Pulls blueprints and engineering drawings off of computer as needed.
· Keep all work areas clean and orderly according to 5S standards.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to support production.
· Utilize precision measurement equipment after machining product, such as micrometers and boring gauges.
· Safely utilizes forklift to bring crates of raw materials to the machine or take finished parts to part storage area.
· Looks up appropriate part number from list in computer, selects appropriate program, and changes out tooling on machine as needed for new parts to be run.
· Participates with quality personnel in the first article process after completing the first part in a series. Stamps on routing sheet that part is within acceptable tolerances.
· Positions and secures workpiece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
· Perform minor adjustments to machine to compensate for tool wear and material compositions (speeds and feeds); or changes out inserts on tools when they get dull.
· Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined workpiece to specifications. Adds coolant and changes out coolant on the machine as needed.
· Empties metal shavings containers when they get full.
· Safely utilizes overhead cranes to load heavy or awkward parts into and off of machine.
· Sharpens drill bits as required.
· Employee is responsible for making sure all product has proper identification prior to moving between processes and including to or from the warehouse storage area. Product must include one kanban card, placard with part number noting product etc. All material needs to have proper identification, no exceptions.
Education and Experience
One year certificate from technical school; six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
