Job Description

MIG/FLUX Welder/Fitter on Pinwheel

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
Weld Test: 1G-R on pinwheel, 4" or 6" beveled pipe, MIG root, Flux fill/cap on carbon steel
Hours: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM 


Responsibilities:
  • Ability to produce X-ray quality work using welding processes such as FCAW, GMAW.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, ruler, and levels
  • Guide and direct flames or electrodes on or across work pieces to straighten, bend, melt, or build up metal
    Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisor
  • Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding: a layout, positions, aligns.
  • Observe and follow all company safety rules and policies
  • Fits components together: positions work pieces manually or by using overhead cranes.
  • Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications
  • Set up welding machine and welding gun: assemble/disassemble welding tips.
  • Must observe and follow all company safety rules and policies.
Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of pinwheel experience in a vessel shop
  • Must be proficient in reading blueprints
  • Must have high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to develop templates and models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on drawing information 
  • Sub-arc experience is a plus but not required
