Local non-profit organization seeking qualified CLASSROOM ASSISTANTS - Floaters to assist with meeting the developmental needs of children birth through 3 years of age in a group early childhood setting. Responsibilities include but are not limited to providing a safe and secure environment for very young children, infants and toddlers.
The temporary Classroom Assistant is hired through HireCall to assist primary teachers in various classrooms when a full-time employee is on leave. HireCall Classroom Assistants must be able to meet all the essential duties listed below and are expected to maintain positive relations and communications with families, partner agencies and various program staff.
Essential Job Functions and other Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- CDA or Associates in Early Child Development or related field preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have experience working with ages 0-3 years
- Possess a command of spoken and written English to serve as a language role model
- C.P.R. and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain desired
- Follow Child Abuse Reporting Guidelines
- Experience managing groups of young children
- Meet all Health Department Guidelines
- Prefer at least 6 months experience working in a licensed childcare program
- Excellent organizational skills and basic computer skills required
- Ability to provide a positive, nurturing environment for children required
- Should remain flexible in assignment and work hours, willing to change locations if needed
- Ability to provide superior customer service and reliable attendance
- Ability to engage and communicate in a respectful way with children and coworkers, responding in a positive way to the needs of children and the primary teacher(s)
- The Classroom Assistant must be aware of where children are at all times. They are expected to engage and respond immediately to ensure children are nurtured and safe
- The Classroom Assistants are required to lift children up to 50 pounds when needed, and in case of an emergency or child injury
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, squat, stoop, sit on floor, perform all activities with children
