Local Class A CDL Driver wanted to join our Claremore team!!!
The Class A CDL Driver is a skilled and licensed professional responsible for operating commercial motor vehicles, particularly those with a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This role plays a crucial part in transporting goods and materials efficiently and safely to their designated destinations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Vehicle Operation: Safely operate and maneuver commercial motor vehicles, such as tractor-trailers, semi-trucks, or heavy trucks, in compliance with local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations.
- Cargo Transportation: Transport goods and materials from one location to another, ensuring the secure loading and unloading of cargo and adhering to weight and load distribution guidelines.
- Route Planning: Plan and optimize driving routes to ensure timely deliveries and fuel efficiency while considering traffic conditions and weather.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to check for any mechanical issues, ensuring the vehicle is in proper working order.
- Documentation: Complete all necessary paperwork and logbooks accurately and on time, including trip sheets, delivery records, and fuel or maintenance reports.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while driving and operating the vehicle. Practice defensive driving techniques and maintain a strong focus on road safety.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with dispatchers, shippers, and receivers to coordinate deliveries and provide updates on transportation status.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to clients, representing the company in a professional and courteous manner during deliveries and interactions.
- Load Securing: Properly secure and stabilize cargo to prevent shifting or damage during transit. Ensure compliance with load securement regulations.
- Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or breakdowns, following established procedures and contacting appropriate authorities when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements (e.g., Hazmat, Tanker, Doubles/Triples, etc.).
- Clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents in the past few years.
- Previous experience as a Class A CDL Driver is preferred but not always required for entry-level positions.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle operation and handling.
- Familiarity with transportation regulations and hours-of-service (HOS) compliance.
- Ability to navigate using GPS and read maps efficiently.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to handle loading/unloading tasks.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and extended periods away from home for long-haul drivers.
