Certified Welding Inspector Needed in Tulsa

Job Description:

As a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welding processes and procedures according to industry standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 plus years of experience as a welding inspector, with certifications preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform visual inspections of welded joints, weldments, and materials to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  2. Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and dye penetrant testing (PT) as required.
  3. Review welding procedures and specifications to ensure adherence to applicable codes and standards (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX).
  4. Interpret drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to verify weld dimensions, weld symbols, and other specifications.
  5. Document inspection results, maintain accurate records, and prepare inspection reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and welders to address quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.
  7. Provide guidance and support to welding personnel regarding proper welding techniques, procedures, and safety practices.
  8. Participate in welder qualification tests and welding procedure qualification tests as needed.
  9. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in welding technology, and changes in regulatory requirements.
  10. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the organization.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in welding technology or related field is preferred.
  2. Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS) or equivalent certification from a recognized organization.
  3. Minimum of 3 plus years of experience working as a welding inspector in a manufacturing, construction, or related industry.
  4. Proficiency in interpreting welding codes, standards, and specifications (e.g., AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX).
  5. Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately assess weld quality and defects.
  6. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to diverse stakeholders.
  7. Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, such as calipers, gauges, micrometers, and NDT equipment.
  8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  10. Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a positive work environment.

Salary: $25.00/hr or more depending on experience
